Making of
Pioneering television
Set in the fictional village of Makutano, the 13-part drama series follows women and families navigating challenges such as financial inclusion, agribusiness, gender-based violence, childcare, and sexual and reproductive health. Through humor, resilience, and determination, these characters highlight the transformative power of women’s economic empowerment.
Research-based
Maisha Makutano leverages insights from a piece of research conducted by Dalberg Design in 9 counties across Kenya using a mix of research methods and activities including interviews, observation, photocards and concept tests. The outcomes of this research helped to identify sub- segments/persona in rural and peri-urban areas based on their contexts, needs, motivations, goals, and aspirations.
